En el marco de le celebración de los 10 años del National Museum of Women in Arts en Chile, se realizó la muestra “Un nuevo mundo”, curada por Felipe Forteza, en el Centro Cultural El Tranque, en la que participé con mi obra Ejercicios de ceguera y de sordera (2017), tejido jacquard a mano (283 x 276 cm) y el tríptico de fotografías del mismo nombre (2019), (50 x 33 cm c/u), que recogen un fragmento del libro “Cuaderno en mano” (1986) de la escritora húngara Agota Kristof.
«Ejercicio de ceguera y de sordera
Uno de nosotros hace de ciego, el otro hace de sordo. Al principio, para entendernos, el ciego se ata una pañoleta negra de la Abuela alrededor de los ojos, y el sordo se tapona los oídos con hierba (…)
El sordo describe lo que ve:
—La calle es recta y larga. Está bordeada de casas bajas, de una sola planta. Están pintadas de blanco, de gris, de rosa, de amarillo y de azul. Al final de la calle se ve un parque con árboles y una fuente. El cielo está azul, con algunas nubes blancas. Se ven unos aviones. Cinco bombarderos. Vuelan bajo.
El ciego habla lentamente para que el sordo pueda leer en sus labios:
—Oigo los aviones. Producen un ruido entrecortado y profundo. Su motor sufre. Están cargados de bombas. Ahora, ya han pasado. Oigo de nuevo a los pájaros. Si no, todo estaría silencioso (…)
Más adelante, con el tiempo, ya no necesitamos ni pañoleta para los ojos ni hierba para los oídos. El que ha hecho de ciego vuelve simplemente su mirada hacia adentro, y el sordo cierra los oídos a todos los sonidos.»

As part of the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the National Museum of Women in Arts in Chile, the exhibition “A new world”, curated by Felipe Forteza, was held at the El Tranque Cultural Center, in which I participated with my work “Exercises in blindness and deafness” (2017), hand-woven jacquard (283 x 276 cm) and the triptych of photographs of the same name (2019), (50 x 33 cm each), which include a fragment of the book “The Notebook” (1986) by the Hungarian writer Agota Kristof.
Exercise in Blindness and Deafness
One of us pretends to be blind, the other deaf. To begin with, by way of training, the blind one ties one of Grandmother’s black shawls over his eyes and the deaf one stuffs his ears with grass (…)
The deaf one describes what he sees:
—The street is long and straight. It is lined with low single-story houses. They are white, gray, pink, yellow, and blue. At the end of the street, I can see a park with trees and a fountain. The sky is blue, with a few white clouds. I can see planes. Five bombers. They are flying low.
The blind one talks slowly so that the deaf one can read his lips:
—I can hear the planes. They are making a deep sputtering noise. Their engines are laboring. They are full of bombs. Now they’ve passed over. I can hear the birds again. Otherwise everything is quiet (…)
Later, with time, we no longer need a shawl over our eyes or grass in our ears. The one playing the blind man simply turns his gaze inward, and the deaf one shuts his ears to all sounds.”
