En La tercera mentira, variaciones cromáticas, la artista chilena Mónica Bengoa crea una instalación mural específica para el lugar, que combina texto, fotografía, dibujo y sus detallados bordados hechos a mano. Su trabajo se basa en la exploración de la transferencia de imágenes fotográficas utilizando técnicas artesanales. En este caso, una paleta de hilos de bordar producidos industrialmente crea restricciones cromáticas para su trabajo.
Las instalaciones meticulosas y teóricamente complejas de Bengoa se han expuesto internacionalmente, entre otros lugares, en la 52ª Bienal de Venecia, en Italia, en el Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Los Ángeles, California, y en la Feria Internacional de Arte Contemporáneo ARCO 2006, en Madrid, España. Actualmente reside en Santiago de Chile, donde imparte clases en la Escuela de Arte de la Universidad Católica.

In The Third Lie, chromatic deflections Chilean artist Mónica Bengoa creates a site-specific, wall-sized installation that combines text, photography, drawing and her detailed, handcrafted embroideries. Her work is based in an exploration of the transference of photographic images using craft-based techniques. In this case a palette of industrially produced embroidery thread restricts her work.
Bengoa’s meticulous and theoretically complex installations have been featured internationally, including at the 52nd Venice Biennale in Venice, Italy, at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, CA and the 2006 ARCO International Fair of Contemporary Art in Madrid, Spain. She currently resides in Santiago, Chile where she teaches at the Art School of the Catholic University.
