Shortly after the start of the quarantine, I received a friendly call from Enrique Matthey and, a few days later, an invitation from him to participate in a project that arose from his observation that, in that period of distancing and seclusion, something had changed. The invitation, sent to 91 other people, included instructions in which we were asked to send a text of between one and three pages, and an image and its description. The project culminated in the digital book titled THOSE GREAT DETAILS. 92 stories written during the pandemic, for which I wrote the text three hundred four by four hundred seventeen.

The text, an ekphrasis of my garden arising from its observation, was also transformed into a video, of that time and events different from the confinement, from the growth of a Gallant’s Spur plant. This fact, which perhaps if it were not for the quarantine would have gone —almost— completely unnoticed, was initially a curiosity and entertainment, something to admire and take care of. But as the hours, days and months passed, it acquired a very particular value: it became evidence that, like plants, instead of suffering and complaining about lost opportunities, it is possible to choose the right attitude of those sensible beings who “accommodate their containers”, always finding a way to flourish with the fair and necessary space and resources that are given to them…
