Once I finished the project El fieltro como soporte para un nuevo ejercicio óptico, and after the production of the gray felt mural Einige Beobachtungen über Insekten: Langhornbiene (Eucera longicornis) or Some considerations on insects: Long-horned Bee (Eucera longicornis) and the red felt diptych Einige Beobachtungen über Wildblumen: Bienen-Ragwurz (Ophrys apifera) und Schachblume (Fritillaria meleagris) or Some considerations on wild flowers: Bee Orchid (Ophrys apifera) and Chess Flower (Fritillaria meleagris) I decided to continue with my research using other books that somehow had been significant in my work.
This time I photographed the book Complete Flowers by photographer Robert Mapplethorpe —a book gathering his entire work registering flowers— and I had been making a series of smaller works that reproduce some of their pages. The intention was to face the flowers’ theme from a different point of view. This is, no longer thought the taxonomic accuracy, but through the re-elaboration of his photographic proposal, copying the luminous, textural and compositional difficulties of his work.
